The Greer Archive has been made available due to its historical and research importance. Statements which form part of the collection are not made on behalf of the University and do not represent the University’s views. It contains material that some researchers might find confronting. This includes: explicit language and images that reflect either the attitudes of the era in which the material was originally published or the views of the creators of the material but may not be considered appropriate today; names, images and voices of deceased Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in published and unpublished printed material, audio recordings and photographs; graphic descriptions of medical conditions and treatment.
This series, Microfilm and Slides, comprises five unit of visual material including 28 sets of colour slides (35mm), 32 reels of microfilm (35mm) and one piece of microfilm with 3 frames, 35mm.
All materials have been rehoused with minimal intervention. Microfilm reels have been removed from their original boxes, loosened on the reel and rehoused in groups into appropriate archival grade containers. Where important information is contained on the microfilm boxes this information has been retained and housed separately, and in some cases a photocopy of the original has been created.
All slides are held within individual slide mounts and rehoused into appropriate archival grade sleeves. Upon accession many of the slides were contained in plastic slide boxes, these boxes have not been retained. Any labels on these boxes have been photographed by UMA and included for reference.
Each roll of microfilm or collection of slides [as they were grouped together upon accession] is catalogued as a single item. The order of the series is consistent with the order of the materials when they were received and each item has been given a sequential twelve-digit number to that effect.
While it may be possible to identify date ranges for the materials in this series, it was out of the scope of the processing. Likewise, the listing does not contain information relating to the imagery or subject matter of the materials. Titles do give some indication of the visual content.
