Title: PACIFIC REGION HEPATITIS B CONTROL PROGRAM RECORDS
Contributor(s):
Collection Name:
Collection/Series:
Reference Code: 2018.0078
Format:
Description: These records arise from Associate Professor Tilman Ruff's work as a physician and program leader on immunisation and maternal and child health projects in the Pacific region, in particular in relation to hepatitis B control.
The first part of the series (items 00001 to 00091) includes reference material (reports, journal articles, conference proceedings) relating to Australian and international research into hepatitis B and other vaccine preventable illness, in particular the delivery and evaluation of immunisation programs.
The second part (items 00092 to 00193) relates to Ruff’s work as technical advisor and/or program leader on successive hepatitis B immunisation programs in Pacific island countries between 1995 and 2011. These programs included: Control of Hepatitis B Infection in Pacific Island Countries Project (UNICEF, AusAID and NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, 1995-2000); Strengthening the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) in Pacific Island Countries (UNICEF, World Health Organisation and AusAID, 2001-2005); and the Pacific Immunisation Program Strengthening (PIPS) (World Health Organisation 2005-2011).
The third part of the series (items 00194-00208) includes further records from the above programs and also Ruff’s later consultancy work for the World Health Organisation Western Pacific Region on the effective delivery of a birth dose of the hepatitis B vaccine.
The creator’s arrangement of files has been maintained and original file/document titles have generally been retained (including alternative spellings of ‘immunisation’/’immunization’ and ‘program’/’programme’), with abbreviations and acronyms expanded.
