2013.0137 INTEGRATION REFERENCE FILES [1974-1993] Creator(s): Lewis, John [-], Social Policy Archive [1993-1997] These records, being files and publications appear to have been originally in suspension pockets and were placed into folders during processing. The titles have been taken from the tabs on the suspension pockets and pinned to each file. They were in alphabetical order by file/suspension pocket title and contain resource materials, teaching aids and syllabus, government and other publications and information for the integration of children with disabilities into the education sector. John Lewis worked in the Victorian Education Department, Integration Programs Section, subsequently lecturing at RMIT Coburg Campus. Mr Lewis was also a member of the Disability Advisory Council of Australia. The last Unit contains two files of working papers created by John Lewis; these having been separated from the remainder at some point and likely were awaiting accessioning when transferred to the University of Melbourne Archives. The series was transferred from the RMIT Social Policy Archive where it had been transferred in the 1990s as part of a collection strategy to capture the records of community sector organisations operating in the welfare sector. Within the SPA, these records were identified as series 104. It was the practice of the SPA to item number material in order of its receipt irrespective of the series it was later allocated; these item numbers and generally their order have been retained. No series description was found in the SPA records for this series and it appears that the collection was received towards the end of the SPA’s active life. 12 Units, (2.5m) Community and Political, organisations
