2013.0125 ADMINISTRATIVE RECORDS [1972-1989] Creator(s): State Youth Council [1973-1984], Social Policy Archive [1993-1997] These records comprise correspondence files, minutes of meetings and reports and reference papers created and collected by the State Youth Council. The correspondence relates to the activities, policies and membership composition in the State Youth Council. Topics include: proposed regional youth consultation, funding, youth employment, drugs, education, youth policy development, teenage holiday programmes, outreach youth agencies, Japan/Australia Youth Work Exchange (December 1980). Most of the correspondence is arranged according to a date received system, eg: 138/80 indicating record number 138 for the year 1980. However some correspondence has been given additional identification eg: 8/78/3, 8/78/4...9/78/1. It appears that this system was reduced to two numbers (eg: 1/79) in 1979. There are also papers apparently without any numbering system at all. These have therefore been arranged in chronological order. The minutes of the State Youth Council including the agendas are arranged chronologically. The reports and reference papers collected and used by State Youth Council and mainly concern youth policy development. The series was transferred from the RMIT Social Policy Archive where it had been transferred in the 1990s as part of a collection strategy to capture the records of community sector organisations operating in the welfare sector. Within the SPA, these records were identified as series 29-30 & 70 and were combined into a single series during processing at the UMA. It was the practice of the SPA to item number material in order of its receipt irrespective of the series it was later allocated; these item numbers and generally their order have been retained. 12 Units, (2.5m) Community and Political, organisations
