This series includes a mixture of "white copies" and photocopies of correspondence annotated by Max Ferguson. There is also some original correspondence bearing original handwritten entries. The files are organised alphabetically according to the name of the department or organisational entity in question and hence provide a good overview of the relevant functions and activities. Naturally, the focus is on financial matters and most files include summary account sheets stating income and expenditure for a given financial year, some of which date back to the 1950s. The records would be of interest to anyone writing departmental histories for the micro detail and information each file contains.
