2007.0007 GET WELL MESSAGES [1962-1982] Creator(s): Fraser, John Malcolm [1930-2015] Get well messages. This series was maintained in the Prime Minister's Office during the Prime Ministership of J M (Malcolm) Fraser. It covers the period from November 1979 (second half of the third Fraser Ministry) to November 1982 (four months before the end of Mr Fraser's term in office). The correspondence relates to Mr Fraser's illnesses in November 1979, September 1981 and, particularly, November-December 1982 when he was hospitalised with a back injury. The messages are from friends and colleagues, constituents from his electorate (Wannon in the Western District of Victoria) and other members of the Australian public. They include letters from Sir James Scholtens (Ceremonial and Hospitality Branch, Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet), Peter Durack (Attorney-General), Bill Hayden (Leader of the Opposition), R D Nesen (United States Ambassador), Sydney Women's Hospital Committee, Sisters of the Good Samaritan, school classes, private companies, church and other community organisations, etc. The series contains cards, letters and telegrams, including an impressive selection of commercially available 'get well' cards and embossed or illustrated writing paper. Some files include published material (booklets, Christian literature, news cuttings), children's drawings and photographs.
