2007.0028 PHOTOGRAPHS MAINLY RELATING TO J M (MALCOLM) FRASER'S POLITICAL CAREER [1948-1983] Creator(s): Fraser, John Malcolm [1930-2015] This collection of photographs relates mainly to the ministerial and, more particularly, the Prime Ministerial period of J M (Malcolm) Fraser's career in federal politics. During this time, he held the portfolios of Army (1966-68), Defence (1969-71), Education and Science (1968-69 and 1971-72) and, after three years in Opposition, was Prime Minister (1975-83). The photographs cover various events including press conferences, election rallies, school visits etc. There is a large collection of portraits that includes photographs by Athol Shmith and John Cato. Also included are photographs of Mr Fraser's wife (Mrs Tamie Fraser), political colleagues (e.g. Doug Anthony) and sporting identities (Johnny Warren and Alan Moffat). The Fraser family's property 'Nareen' in the Western District of Victoria features in several photographs. The series also includes a photograph of Malcolm Fraser's Rusden College year group at Melbourne Church of England Grammar School (1948).
