Documents include the draft of the first University bill by Childers. The originals of these documents were presented to the University by Lauchlan Mackinnon in 1883, enclosed in an ebony and silver casket, which accompanied a bust of Childers. Lauchlan Mackinnon, a member of the original Council, and a partner in The Argus, organised a fund for a bust to honour Childers' role in founding the University, and gathered recollections of the foundation of the University from Childers and Bishop Perry. The typescript copies of the documents from the Childers casket were made in c.1911, according to the descriptive note to UM 352. It is not known when the photocopies of typescript copies were made. The casket is held by the Potter Museum. The location of the original documents has not been confirmed. 0.04m University, individuals
