Due to fragility, original copies are withheld and photocopies are made available for use. Diaries contain newspaper cuttings, annotations, photograohs, letters, programmes and other ephemera. The collection also includes 3 sets of the unpublished report Survey of Overseas Universities, 1938; and miscellanea, including obituaries of Priestley. An edited version of Priestley's diaries is contained in the publication The Diary of a Vice-Chancellor: University of Melbourne 1935-1938, edited by Ronald Ridley. Melbourne University Press: 2001.
