2013.0141 [RESOURCE FILES]
Date Range of Records: 1970-1990
Creator(s):
- State College of Victoria [1959-]
- Social Policy Archive [1993-1997]
This series comprises resource material being copies of book chapters, journal articles, government reports and publications, copies of materials created and used by organisations retained here for reference use. Each article etc is held in its own file, numbered in a straight sequential sequence; there is no known index. The records were held and used by the State College of Victoria, Coburg for teaching purposes and the material mainly relates to youth issues. Some of the files are marked “Youth Work Collection” and many have “ex libris Ian Warner” stamped on them. The evidence tends to support the idea that the collection, whilst being significantly derived from Ian Warner’s collection, was created and used as a teaching resource by the State College. The last three boxes contain uncatalogued material of essentially the same nature and may have been added to the sequence for that reason. The nature and lack of organisation in these three boxes suggests that they may have been a personal collection of a staff member at the College at the time when the records were transferred. The series was transferred from the RMIT Social Policy Archive where it had been transferred in the 1990s as part of a collection strategy to capture the records of community sector organisations operating in the welfare sector. Within the SPA, these records were identified as series 127. It was the practice of the SPA to item number material in order of its receipt irrespective of the series it was later allocated; these item numbers and generally their order have been retained.
