2013.0136 [MINUTES, REPORTS, CORRESPONDENCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE RECORDS]
Date Range of Records: 1952-1993
Creator(s):
- Fitzroy Community Youth Centre [1965-]
- Social Policy Archive [1993-1997]
This collection comprises a range of administrative records documenting the activities of the Fitzroy Community Youth Centre. Records include minutes of the Committee of Management meetings and a scrapbook of newspaper clippings, correspondence and annual reports. The bulk of the collection is comprised of two sequences of subject based files. The first, with item numbers 107/3013-3350 contains files with reports, meeting minutes, correspondence, papers, camp notes, newsletters, Youth Affairs Council of Victoria papers, annual reports and submissions. The second sequence, with item numbers 108/3351-3357 contains files with Youth Advocacy Network records including minutes, reports and papers; outreach youth work notes, minutes, correspondence and reports. Also included in this second sequence are Youth Development Workers Coalition and Police Watch Action Group notes and minutes and Committee of Management minutes. Many items have been added to this second sequence without being numbered and without file covers. No system of arrangement is apparent. The series was transferred from the RMIT Social Policy Archive where it had been transferred in the 1990s as part of a collection strategy to capture the records of community sector organisations operating in the welfare sector. Within the SPA, these records were identified as series 105-108 and were combined into a single series during processing at the UMA. It was the practice of the SPA to item number material in order of its receipt irrespective of the series it was later allocated; these item numbers and generally their order have been retained.
