2013.0126 [Administrative records and publications of the Youth Workers Association of Victoria]
Date Range of Records: 1966-1980
Creator(s):
- Youth Workers Association of Victoria [1967-]
- Social Policy Archive [1993-1997]
This collection comprises a range of records and publications documenting the activities of the Youth Workers Association of Victoria. The records include the minutes of the Executive of the Youth Workers Association of Victoria, correspondence and administration files, newsletters and other publications and annual reports. The correspondence and administration files comprise the bulk of the collection and topics in these include: YWA Constitution, aims and policies, budgets, correspondence with members, relationship with the Youth Council of Victoria, mailing lists and notes. Executive and Annual General Meetings Minutes and reports are included. Most files are arranged according to a three tiered numbering system accompanied by keyword headings. Some files were given headings only and some files had no external labels on the file covers or suspension pockets. The minutes are in date order. The newsletter was called "Our News" in 1975, "Newsletter of the YWA" in April 1977, "Newsletter of the YWA News Bulletin" in July 1977 and "Youth Workers News Bulletin" in December 1977. There is a gap in this sequence from October 1975 to March 1977. At the end of the collection are a number of published annual reports and copies of the YWA journal.
The series was transferred from the RMIT Social Policy Archive where it had been transferred in the 1990s as part of a collection strategy to capture the records of community sector organisations operating in the welfare sector. Within the SPA, these records were identified as series 32-34, 45 & 126 and were combined into a single series during processing at the UMA. It was the practice of the SPA to item number material in order of its receipt irrespective of the series it was later allocated; these item numbers and generally their order have been retained.
