The extensive papers collected from Professor Miles Lewis are mainly personal papers. The papers have been broken into several record groups guided by Lewis’ own organising principle documented at the time of transfer to the Archives. In this system, Lewis divided the files according to the following headings: General files [correspondence]; Personal files [correspondence]; Location files [research material regarding buildings and sites]; Biographical files on architects [research, information and correspondence about architects]; Research publication files [research material for publications, papers, etc]; Building files, Victoria [research material regarding buildings and sites]. A second part of this collection is housed in large ring binders that contain papers relating to important - sometimes controversial - planning issues, including: Housing Commission of Victoria Committee for Urban Action;
Town & Country Planning Association [TCPA]; Save Our Suburbs [SOS]; Parklands Defence Council and Barry Square/Melbourne University Private controversy.
The majority of the collection has been listed at file level and a smaller proportion is listed at Unit/box level only.
