Women's Refuge Referral Service
History : The Women's Refuge Referral Service (WRRS) originated in the Women's Liberation Switchboard (q.v.) in 1979. In order to be eligible for government funding, the WLS responded to a demand from the Victorian Women's Refuge Group (q.v.) for a service to refer women to refuges without compromising the safety of refuge residents by having a publicly available telephone number. Once funding was established in 1980 WRRS became a separate and autonomous entity from the WLS. WRRS subsequently changed its name to the Women's Domestic Violence Crisis Service of Victoria. This collection is No.102 of the Victorian Women's Liberation and Lesbian Feminist Archive
Activities/Occupation: Feminist collectives
