Women's Legal Resource Group
History : Established in 1982 Women's Legal Resource Group provided a free legal service for women by women. The WLRG operated a phone information service one evening a week from the Women's Liberation Switchboard at the Women's Liberation building. WLRG produced the 'Young Women's Booklet' in 1984 as well as other publications, and organised the Women and law Conference in 1987. In 1996 WLRG increased its activities to include outreach work in rural Victoria and the western suburbs and to offer legal advice at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court. In 2000 the WLRG was restructured and its name changed to the Women's Legal Service Victoria. The Group then decided to prioritise family law and domestic violence issues.
