Welch, Edward Ronald
Biography: Educated at Grenville College, Ballarat and a member of Ormond College, Welch entered the medical course in 1905 but discontinued during 1907-1909. He returned in 1910, graduating M.B.B.S. on 17 April 1915. He enlisted in London as Lieutenant R.A.M.C., attached to the 64th Field Ambulance, 15th Durham Light Infantry, in July 1915, and after short training at Eastbourne went to France, serving at Armentieres and after on the Somme. He was killed by a shell at Fliers on 16 Sepltember 1916 while attending to the wounded. Student record; Record of Active Service 1914-1915, p. 50)
