Upjohn, Sir William George Dismore

Biography: Born in 1888, Upjohn was educated at Wesley College, Melbourne University, Middlesex and London Hospital Medical Schools. From 1912 he was Lecturer in Surgery at the University of Melbourne and Stewart Lecturer in Anatomy until 1918. In 1927, Upjohn was appointed Honorary Surgeon to Inpatients and Clinical Lecturer in Surgery at the Royal Children's Hospital. He also served during World War One and Two on the Department Chairman Central Coordination Committee. In addition to chairing numerous committees and examining at the Medical School, Upjohn was appointed President of Melbourne Hospital from 1960 to 1968, Deputy Chancellor of the University of Melbourne from 1962 to 1966 and Chancellor from 1966 to 1968.
