Rea, Helen
Biography: Helen Rea (aka Helen Kelly) was born in Melbourne in 1950. She was educated at Swinburne Technical Girls College and left school in year nine. It was later discovered that an eye condition had contributed to her learning difficulties. Rea married at nineteen and had three children. After her marriage ended in 1979, she spent three years at Monash University studying Philosophy, Sociology and Women's Studies without formally enrolling. She was invited to submit written work and became involved in a study into equal opportunity on campus. In 1984 she joined the Women's Liberation Switchboard collective and over the next ten years she was active in very many women's liberation political actions and events. This is No.60 of the Victorian Women's Liberation and Lesbian Feminist Archive
