Phillips, Julian
Biography: Julian Phillips was a senior lecturer in Law at the University of Melbourne. He was an outspoken advocate for social justice and active in reforming various social issues. Phillips' diverse interests included industrial law, the status of women, equal opportunity, sentencing penalties and homosexuality and its decriminalisation. Most prominent as a member of the Equal Opportunity Advisory Council, Julian Phillips advised on matters of race, age and sexial and gender discrimination. He was also a member of the United Nations Association of Australia, committee member for International Women's Year and a member of the Homosexual Law Reform.
