Melbourne University Cricket Club
History : "A few gentlemen of the University had played some cricket against Scotch College the previous summer" (1856) but it was not until 28 Mar 1857 that a University team first played. The match was against Emerald Hill and lasted until 2 April. Any person who had matriculated was entitled to play. A meeting held in August 1869 formally resolved to form a cricket club with Robert Pinnock as honorary secretary.
