Industrial Printing and Publishing Co. Pty Ltd
History : In 1897 certain trade unions and sympathisers with the labour movement formed an organisation with the purpose of establishing a newspaper and undertaking general printing work for Labor organisations. The business was registered as the Tocsin Printing & Publishing Society Ltd and continued under that title until it became the Printing & Publishing Co-operative Society Ltd in 1906. In 1926 moves were made to merge the Society's interests in a new company known as the Industrial Printing and Publicity Co Ltd. Various attempts were made without success until the Committee of Management sold the assets of the Society to the new company. Shares were held by various trade unions and the Australian Labor Party. The Society remained a registered company until 1942. The company got into financial difficulties and was restructured as The Industrial Printing and Publishing Co Pty Ltd. It was wound up in late 2004. A major asset of the company was a broadcasting licence operated by 3KZ Broadcasting Co Pty Ltd under agreement.
