Hayward (III), Isaac Johnson Thomas

Biography: Isaac Hayward was born in England in 1837. His parents and siblings immigrated to Australia, arriving in Victoria in November 1852 and immediately joined the army of gold seekers in Ballarat. Two years later he took part as a digger in the rebellion in 1854 at the Eureka Stockade. He followed mining pursuits and travelled all over Australia and New Zealand. Hayward finally settled with his family in Gippsland and worked as a carpenter. A prominent member of the community, he died in 1905.
