Council Of Action For Equal Pay
History : The second Council of Action for Equal Pay (named after the first Council established by Muriel Heagney and others from 1937-48) was launched in 1984 to lobby for equal pay for women, which had not been achieved despite legislation in 1969, 1972 and 1974. The CAEP organised the Time's Up Conference in September 1985 and the equal pay tram ride and a chain-on, also in 1985. Both actions commemorated similar actions held in 1969 and 1970. CAEP, along with the Women's Social and Political Coalition (q.v.) and Women's Education and Employment Victoria set up Unfinished Business (q.v.) with funding from the Women's Trust in 1986. This collection is No.93 of the Victorian Women's Liberation and Lesbian Feminist Archive
Activities/Occupation: Feminist collectives
