Campbell, Brigadier Edward Francis
Biography: Born on 7th January 1908, in Kalgoorlie, Edward Campbell was a distinguished army psychologist. He was a member of the Citizen Forces from 1926-1929. During WWII he served as an artillery officer in the Pacific (3rd Australian Army Headquarters). In 1946 he was appointed Director of the Australian Army Psychology Service, and concurrently with this undertook Postgraduate training at Melbourne University. His main area of expertise was the role of manpower mental health in effective organisation. In 1952 he formed army psychology into its own corps. Additionally he was a founding and lifetime member of the Australian Psychological Society. In 1964 we was awarded the O.B.E. and lifetime fellowship of the APS. He was made an Honorary fellow of the Cairnmillar Institute in 1988 in recognition of his services to military psychology.
