Burnet, Sir Frank Macfarlane
Biography: Born at Traralgon Victoria in 1899, Professor Sir Frank Macfarlane Burnet was assistant director of the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute the University of Melbourne 1928-31 and 1934-44, becoming Director and Professor of Experimental Medicine 1944-1965. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1960, joint, and the Mueller Medal for contributions to science at the 1962 ANZAAS Congress and received various other awards in recognition of his contributions to medicine and science. He died in 1985.
