Australian Nursing Federation, Victorian Branch
History : The ANF Victorian Branch was formed between 1970 and 1972 with the amalgamation of the Royal Victorian College of Nursing and the Royal Victorian College of Nursing Employees Section. This ended the split in nursing organisations between those with an educational function and those with an industrial relations function which had obtained throughout most of the century. The forerunners of the ANF in Victoria were: the Victorian Trained Nurses' Association, formed 1901 to educate and register nurses; it became the Royal VTNA in 1904; The Trained Nurses' Guild was formed in 1921 to look after wages and conditions but soon ceased; RVTNA joined other states to form the ANF in 1923.
Activities/Occupation: Trade Unions
