Royal Australian Nursing Federation, Federal Office
History : The federal Australian Nursing Federation (ANF) formed in 1924 as a body representing nursing organisations in all states. In 1948 the ANF came under pressure to include economic and industrial objectives into their aims as well as their educational ones. The ANF therefore revived the quiescent Trained Nurses Guild from Victoria, and until 1970 there were two national nursing bodies operating together - the old ANF (which took the Royal prefix in 1955 and abandoned it c.1990) and the Guild for industrial matters. The Guild underwent several name changes until finally amalgamated with the educational body to form the new Royal Australian Nursing Federation between 1970 and 1972.
Activities/Occupation: Trade Unions
