Annear, Harold Desbrowe
Biography: Harold Annear was born in 1865 and educated at Hawthorn Grammar School. In 1883 he was articled to the architect William Salway (who served articles with J. Reed) until 1889 when Annear established his practice. In 1900 he became a foundation member and first president of the T-Square Club, which was centered on the Working Mens' College (where Annear instructed in architecture and drawing) and embraced artists, craftsmen and architects. In 1902 he planned three houses for which he is best known: 32, 34 and 38 The Eyrie, Eaglemont. Other well-known commissions are the Macgeorge house, Fairy Hills, houses in Ivanhoe and Troon in Toorak. Harold Annear died in 1933.
