2016.0034 [MUSICIANS, WRITERS AND ARTISTS LETTERS] |

This series consists of two alphabetically arranged sections of letters discovered in the office of Editions de l'Oiseau-Lyre: the first section of correspondence with musicians (A-Z by surname) is held in eight boxes; the second section of correspondence with writers and artists (A-V by surname) is held in the ninth box. These letters were found with descriptive lists thought to have been compiled by Mary Criswick, an English guitarist, scholar, singer and educator. It seems that Criswick gathered the letters from previous files of correspondence and grouped them together by author as they are now described. One list cross references the letters to another correspondence series found in the office: the 'Secretarial Files' (now series reference number 2016.0048). Where cross references exist, following them might lead to further letters or to an understanding of the context of the original letters. The original filing system imposed by Criswick has been retained. |
