2007.0014 [SENIOR ADVISER'S RESEARCH MATERIAL, SECOND SERIES]
Date Range of Records: 1968-1980
Creator(s):
- Fraser, John Malcolm [1930-2015]
Senior adviser's research material, second series. This series consists of folders of research material accumulated and used by Senior Advisers to J M (Malcolm) Fraser during the middle period of his Prime Ministership. The advisory staff at this time included Petro Georgiou, Alan Jones and Ian Renard. The material is arranged in lexicographical (subject) order, although some inconsistencies are apparent, partly due to the later inter-sorting of additional files. Subjects dealt with include the arts, Australian Policy Institute, Australian Science and Technology Council, Commonwealth Public Service, the economy, 1977 and 1980 elections, the Galbally Report on post-arrival services for migrants, immigration, industrial relations, oil reserves, overseas trade, state Premiers and youth employment. There are also individual files for several senior political figures. The series includes reports, departmental briefs, correspondence, working notes, draft speeches, press transcripts, news cuttings and other publications. Some Cabinet papers were removed from the series in late 1983. A number of items are currently held at the National Archives of Australia (see list for details). Formerly National Archives of Australia series M1277.
