General correspondence (alphabetical series). This series comprises personal correspondence between former Prime Minister J M (Malcolm) Fraser and his extensive network of friends and acquaintances both in Australia and overseas. The series commenced after Mr Fraser's resignation from Federal Parliament on 31 March 1983, following the defeat of the Liberal- Coalition Government at the election of 5 March 1983. A large proportion of the earlier correspondence consists of letters of support and commiseration regarding these events. The remainder of the correspondence is more personal and relates to attendance at social functions, overseas visits, formal introductions for relatives and acquaintances and requests for Mr Fraser's assistance or intervention. Formerly National Archives of Australia series M2063.
