Post-prime ministerial general correspondence files. This series was maintained by the office of former Prime Minister J M (Malcolm) Fraser, following his resignation from Federal Parliament on 31 March 1983. It records the full range of his activities since then. Among the activities documented is Mr Fraser's ongoing relationship with the media. The files contain requests for interviews, 'letters to the editor' on various issues, Mr Fraser's responses to media reports concerning him and copies of press releases issued by his office. The series also documents Mr Fraser's continuing involvement with the Liberal Party and includes correspondence with Andrew Peacock, John Howard and others on various party-related issues, as well as with David Hawker's office concerning his former electorate of Wannon (Victoria). Other activities documented in this series include Mr Fraser's career as a public speaker on the American lecture circuit, requests for assistance from members of the public, patronage of various societies and charitable organisations and attendance at social functions. The series also includes correspondence with the Prime Minister's Office relating to Mr Fraser's continuing interest in topics such as human rights and immigration.
