Dorothea Rebecca Coverlid. Black and white matt photograph, 5" x 3", in stiff brown paper folder. Dorothea Coverlid began her university career by teaching German to scientists and was to continue an association with the University for 45 years (1923-1968). She was a member of the University Women's College Council, the Melbourne Lyceum Club, the Victorian Women's Graduate Association, the Victorian Schools Board, secretary to the Goethe Society and a member of the Selection Committee of the Society for Australian-German Student Exchange. She died 31 August 1972.
The University of Melbourne Archives Photograph Collection consists of individual photographs about the University from a variety of miscellaneous sources assembled into an artificial series. It was established to control the many photographs about the University donated to the Archives with scarce details of their provenance. More well documented photographs of the University are kept within their individual collections rather than added to this series. |
