The surviving records comprise mainly the minute books of the branch spanning the years 1904 to 1930, providing a thorough account of the activities of this progressive, militant branch of the Political Labour Council (later ALP). In
addition to valuable information reg. the relationship between the political and industrial wings of the Labor movement - these minutes document the rise of Labor opposition to conscription and later the war, as well as the electoral successes and failures of the 1924 Prendergast and 1927 to 1928 Hogan Victorian Labor Ministeries.
