The records of the VTHC described here were originally filed within the Council's classification schemes, and were selected for permanent preservation using the VTHC Retention and Disposal Schedule.
The VTHC records documented here were created within a filing system which commenced in 1989, although individual records might have been created earlier. In 1989 the Victorian Trades Hall Council Classification Scheme was entered onto a database on DB/TextWorks which was still in use in 2010. The classification scheme continued to follow the earlier practice of giving a classification number to each record transaction, and creating a new file every year, approximately, for transactions within that number.
The files in the list attached are arranged by File Classification Number, File Title, Box Numbers, Scope and General Notes. Requesting Box numbers is the easiest way to retrieve these files for reference. |
