For most purposes the options available to researchers on the Simple Search screen will produce the best results. However the Advanced search screen provides some extra search options:
- If you know the reference code of the Catalogue record you want to retrieve, use the Reference Code field on the Advanced search screen to search for it. The reference code is also sometimes called the catalogue record number, or the accession number. It should be entered in the following format: yyyy.xxxx (y being a year). For example 2005.0063.
- The Advanced search option enables you to search for a particular word or phrase within one collection category, rather than across the entire database. Enter the search term, then use the drop down menu next to the Collection Category field to select the category to search.
