Shineberg, Dorothy Lois
Biography: Dr Dorothy Shineberg (nee Munro, 5 February 1927 - 19 August 2004) specialized in the history of the south-west Pacific area, especially New Caledonia. Her publications included They Came for Sandalwood: a study of the sandalwood trade in the south-west Pacific 1830-1865 (MUP, 1967). A Melbourne graduate, she pursued a teaching and research career at the Australian National University from the early 1960s.
