History : The teaching of architecture in the University had been recommended by C.H. Pearson as Royal Commissioner to enquire into education in 1877, and again by Theodore Fink's Royal Commission of 1902. A Regulation for the Diploma of Architecture, prepared by the Faculty of Engineering and the Royal Victorian Institute of Architects, came into force in January 1906, with A.M. Henderson as Lecturer. An Atelier for advanced students was established in 1919, a Board of Studies in 1923, a degree course in 1927 and the Faculty of Architecture in 1931.
