Comprises over 300 talks etc. by David Derham 1940-1985, arranged in various sequences. Includes speeches given by Derham, articles, book reviews, poems, interviews with Derham. Some sequences are numbered. Also contains speeches and articles etc. given by others and compiled for Derham reference; related correspondence on administrative arrangements, publications, events etc.; correspondence between family members 2003, 2008. Earliest contents are an essay written as a student in 1940 (see 2014.0023.00009) and poems written during World War 11 (see 2014.0023.00024). Latest includes interviews with Derham at time of his retirement as Vice-Chancellor and later papers and correspondence. Many of the speeches were published in David Derham: talks on universities, history and the law, edited by Philip Ayers. St Kilda, Vic.: Oryx, 2009.The arrangement reflects the selection, duplication and rearrangement of talks etc. in preparation for this published collection. Many speeches have green slips attached to the front with information on number of pages, word count etc. A handwritten list page numbered 1-15 listing approximately 150 addresses given by David Derham c. 1954-1982, most arranged by group addressed and title, is held as item 2014.0023.00001. The item metadata uploaded to EMu by UMA describes the contents of each each folder (item), including approximate number of talks held in each folder, but does not list every talk etc. held in this acquisition.
