Warrnambool Racing Club
History : The 100 acres of land for a racecourse at Warrnambool was granted by the Government of Victoria in 1855. Constructed in the mid 1850s it has served as a major centre for racing in the Western District, with the first race meeting being held on the new course in March 1858. The Warrnambool Racing Club was founded in June 1873 although there are indications of a meeting to establish the club in 1867.
