Cathleen Moore (also known as Luanscot Danaan) was born in Queensland in 1954 and grew up in various rural areas. For the most part, however, she lived on a sugar cane farm. Moore left home at 18 years of age and spent the next three years working and travelling around Australia and New Zealand. After settling in Melbourne in 1975, she commenced a long period of political activism, initially in the Women's Liberation movement and the Left. She later became active as an environmentalist and a supporter of Australian Indegenous people's struggle. Author of 'Journey to the Matix', Dykebooks, 1987, Moore completed the combined degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws with a view to obtaining her practising certificate for admission to legal practice.
