Bassett, Sir Walter Eric

Biography: Walter Bassett lectured at the University of Melbourne in Mechanical Engineering from 1919 to 1928 and then worked as a consulting engineer, serving on the Army Mechanization Board during World War II. In 1923 he married Flora "Marnie" Masson, daughter of Professor Sir David Orme Masson. He was the former partner of W.E. Bassett & Partners and director of the Mt. Lyell Mining & Railways Co., later becoming its Chairman of Directors.
