William Ardlie
History : William Ardlie was born in 1843 in Victoria. He was articled to George Barber, Warrnambool, and passed his examinations in Melbourne. In 1867, Ardlie formed a partnership with Barber under the name Barber Ardlie. Barber retired in 1878 and and the business continued under Ardlie's name until his death on 16 April 1933. William Ardlie's son, E L Ardlie continued the practice until May 1958. The firm, still under the name of William Ardlie, was then taken over by Ivan Ardlie, son of E L Ardlie, until he ceased to practice as a solicitor in 1962. The firm's clientele was drawn from the Warrnambool-Mortlake-Penshurst district. J S Tait & Co. took the firm over in 1962.
