The papers and volumes in this series are records that were kept by the predecessors of the legal firm known as Blake and Riggall, in particular the firms of R.W. Nutt and E.J. Murphy.
The papers are a combination of personal and business papers. Among the personal papers of RW Nutt are files relating to a marriage settlement, properties, and wills and estates. The papers of EJ Murphy consist of a number of deeds that came into his possession after he took over the office, business and papers of the late John Clarke in 1862. The volumes mainly relate to the management of clients’ business, financial and accounting activities, particularly deed books managing legal documents relating to clients’ properties, rights or interests. Some of these record types have integrated alphabetical indexes in their front pages which can be used to locate relevant information within. |
